Main Article Content
Abstract
Corneal trauma is a common ocular injury that leads to vision loss and disability in individuals. This study aims to investigate the prevalence of corneal trauma among patients attending Noor Hospital in Kabul in the second half of 2019.
According to the results, the most common cause of corneal trauma is domestic accidents, with men being three times more affected than women. Furthermore, children and adolescents under the age of 20 are more prone to corneal trauma. In terms of the affected eye, the right eye is more commonly affected than the left eye, and iris prolapse is the most frequent associated complication with corneal trauma. Based on these findings, increasing community awareness through education, universities, and families can reduce the risk of corneal trauma.
