Managing Director


Mr. Ali Ahmad Yousefi

Mr. Ali Ahmad Yousefi, the President of the University and the Managing Director of the Kateb Journal of Medical Sciences and Biotechnology, is a prominent figure in the field of education, research, and higher education management in Afghanistan. In 2005, he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Applied Chemistry from Tabriz University, and in 2009, he successfully obtained a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in Iran. He has not only played a significant role in the field of university education and management but has also made extensive efforts for the development of scientific research and university progress. Some of his managerial and scientific experiences include being the Executive Manager of a private university, Faculty Member and Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs at Kateb University, Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and also the Head of a private university, Director of the Quality Assurance of Kateb University, and being an influential figure and part of the reputable body of Kateb University. Due to his enthusiasm, passion, and great dedication to education and Kateb University, he was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs of Kateb University in 2016 (1395 in the Persian calendar) and later, due to his extraordinary efforts for the development and progress of the university and his commitment and perseverance in his duties, he was appointed as the Chancellor of Kateb University in 2019 (1397 in the Persian calendar).

In addition to his administrative position, he has a number of other roles and memberships, including being a member of the National Committee for the Review of Scientific Programs of the Ministry of Higher Education, the head of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Afghanistan, a member of the National Committee for Sustainable Development Goals in Afghanistan, the head of the Political Committee of the Afghan Student Association in Iran, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Union of Universities and Higher Education Institutions in Afghanistan.

During his tenure in higher education institutions, especially at Kateb University, he has achieved significant accomplishments in the fields of education, research, and development. Some examples of these achievements are as follows:

  • Establishment of the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and serving as the first Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs at Kateb University (2013).
  • Promotion of Kateb Higher Education Institute to Kateb University (2013).
  • Establishment and launch of the Master's degree program and obtaining licenses for six Master's programs (2013).
  • Assistance and collaboration in the establishment of the NAD educational system, the first university management system in Afghanistan (2014).
  • Establishment and operation of foreign language training and examination centers, and obtaining international certificates (2016).
  • Establishment of the Kateb Teaching Hospital (2019).
  • Establishment of the Legal Clinic (2019).
  • Acquisition of national academic accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education (2019).
  • Organization of two successful International Collegiate Programming Contests (ICPC) regional rounds (2016-present).
  • Establishment of research centers in the fields of medical sciences, economics and management, political sciences, computer sciences, and engineering (2019).
  • Establishment of scientific research journals in the fields of economics and management, politics, law, and medical sciences and biotechnology (2021).
  • Obtaining licenses for Master's programs in Business Administration and Private Law (2021).
  • Signing multiple memoranda of understanding for cooperation with domestic and international scientific and research institutions.

With his scientific accomplishments, research achievements, and significant progress in various higher education institutions, especially Kateb University, he is recognized as a successful figure and a creative manager in the field of education and research in Afghanistan.
